Beneath (2014) May 2026

Based on the 2014 horror-thriller , directed by Ben Ketai , The Final Shift

George Marsh, a veteran coal miner, is counting down the hours until his retirement. On his final shift, he is joined by an unexpected visitor: his daughter, Samantha. An environmental lawyer with a strained relationship with her father, Sam has come along to prove she can handle the grueling conditions of the mine and to find some common ground before he hangs up his gear for good.

The survivors scramble to a small rescue chamber, a metal sanctuary designed to withstand such disasters. However, hope is quickly tempered by a grim reality: it will take at least 72 hours for a rescue team to reach them. As the hours tick by, the air begins to thin. Toxic methane levels rise, and oxygen supplies dwindle, causing the group to suffer from oxygen deprivation and high-altitude-like hallucinations. Beneath (2014)

Deep within the earth—600 feet below the surface—disaster strikes. A drilling mishap causes a catastrophic structural failure, leading to a massive cave-in. The collapse kills several workers instantly and leaves the survivors, including George and Sam, trapped in a pitch-black tomb of rubble and dust.

The story is framed by a chilling epilogue: a rescue team eventually breaks through the rubble, only to discover a scene of total carnage. Of the entire crew, only one person is found alive among the mutilated remains of the others. If you'd like, I can: Describe the in the mining crew. Tensions reach a breaking point as paranoia sets in. The miners begin to hear strange screams and scratching from beyond the chamber walls, leading them to believe other comrades might still be alive—or that something else is down there with them. They discover evidence of a similar disaster from 100 years prior where bodies were never recovered, fueling fears of a supernatural presence. The survivors scramble to a small rescue chamber,

As their grip on reality slips, the "monsters" they fear become indistinguishable from one another. Friendships dissolve into violence as the miners turn on each other, driven by a primal need for survival and the suffocating weight of the mountain above.
