Formed in 1994, Funeral Cult emerged from the burgeoning Voronezh scene, a city that would later become a significant hub for Russian extreme music. While many contemporary bands focused on the "Second Wave" Norwegian sound, Funeral Cult leaned heavily into the "Funeral" aspect of their moniker.
