: A common criticism is the 177-minute runtime, which some viewers find "excruciating" or "boring". 🌟 Key Facts

The film was a massive commercial failure upon release, leading Boutonnat to withdraw it from circulation for years. However, it has since gained a cult following among fans of gothic cinema.

: The atmosphere is one of "ultimate despair" and "pure poetry," often compared to the gothic tales of Edgar Allan Poe.

Set in October 1918, the story follows Giorgio Volli (Jeff Dahlgren), a young doctor and WWI soldier recovering from a mustard gas attack.

: The score, also by Boutonnat, is a central pillar of the film's haunting mood. Giorgino (1994) - IMDb

: Starring American guitarist Jeff Dahlgren and French superstar Mylène Farmer in her film debut.

: Amidst the village’s madness, he meets Catherine ( Mylène Farmer ), a fragile, childlike woman who holds the key to the town's grim secrets. 🎨 Artistic Reception

: He returns to the orphanage where he once worked to find the children he cared for.
