Micevac

For centuries, the residents of this area held a unique social status as "free peasants" or minor nobility, granted by Croatian-Hungarian kings in exchange for military service against Ottoman incursions. The traditional architecture of the region, specifically the use of Turopolje oak for homes and outbuildings, was once a defining feature of Micevac, though much of it has been replaced by modern construction.
