Regina uses magic to give the amnesiac Belle the memories of "Lacey," the person she would have been under the original curse if she hadn't been locked in a dungeon. Unlike the compassionate Belle, Lacey is a hard-drinking "bad girl" who spends her time at the Rabbit Hole and is drawn to darkness.
