A few days after execution, users reported that their webcams would trigger randomly. The small green indicator light would flicker for a fraction of a second—just a "snap."

The legend takes a darker turn as the file persists. Users who tried to delete found that the "Snaps" folder would begin to fill with photos of their room while they were away, or worse, photos of them sleeping. The final stage of the haunting involved the computer screen itself. The wallpaper would change to a photo of the user's own back, taken from the doorway of their room only seconds prior.
