As Nicholas navigates this complex and treacherous world, he finds himself caught between his loyalty to his friend and his duty to expose the truth about Kay's past.

As Nicholas becomes more involved in Ugandan society, he meets a young Scottish musician named Kay Amin (also played by Forest Whitaker), who bears a striking resemblance to the dictator Idi Amin. Kay is a charismatic and flamboyant leader who becomes infatuated with Nicholas.

As the story unfolds, Nicholas becomes increasingly drawn into Kay's world, and the two form a close bond. However, Nicholas soon discovers that Kay's true identity is that of the infamous Ugandan dictator Idi Amin, who has gone into hiding.
